This Official Switch Lite Flip Cover Looks Perfect For Keeping Your Console Safe - Nintendo Life

Switch Lite

Update (18th Nov, 14:45): Already confirmed for other parts of the world, we've now had word that the stylish Switch Lite Flip Cover is coming to North America on December 8th, with a retail price of $39.99.

Update (3rd Sep, 10:45): Great news, folks! The official Switch Lite Flip Cover has been confirmed for release in Australia and the UK. In Australia, it'll launch on 6th December, while UK buyers will have to wait until January 2020.

Original Article (30th Aug, 16:30 BST): As with any portable device, you'll likely want to make sure your new Switch Lite is as safe as can be after its launch next month. We're sure it can handle being dropped a few times, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Luckily, Nintendo has revealed its very own official Flip Cover for the new console, and it looks like a perfect solution. As you can see in the images below, it appears to simply clasp on to the rear of your console, with one section flipping over to protect the screen, buttons and control sticks. From there, it looks like you can just flip that cover off and get back to playing, all while keeping the case attached.

It's a pretty smart way to stop your console from being battered, so we're hoping this makes its way over to the west; at present, it's only available on the Japanese My Nintendo store, where customers can pre-order it for 3,758 yen (approx. £29 / $35). It launches there in November, so we guess you could try to find a way of importing it if it doesn't get released over here.

Would you grab one of these if it released in your area? Here's hoping Nintendo gives it a worldwide launch.

Amazon cuts the price of the Google Pixel 3a to $299 - Engadget

Sponsored Links

Google's Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are two of our favorite affordable smartphones, delivering similar camera tech found in the older Pixel 3 flagship while costing significantly less than the recently-released Pixel 4. Prices for these budget options have continued to drop since launch, but now Amazon has discounted both models to their lowest pricing yet.

We saw the Pixel 3a on sale for $349 last month, but the $100 drop to $299 means it's never been cheaper. Similarly, the bigger Pixel 3a XL reached $429 previously, but is now on sale for $380 (a discount of $99.01).

Not all color variants are enjoying those big discounts, though. The Just Black Pixel 3a and the Clearly White and Purple-ish versions of the Pixel 3a XL are currently the cheapest. Although, if you're really keen for a black Pixel 3a XL, you can pick that one up for a still-discounted $399.

Google has begun teasing its own Black Friday deals, which includes a similar sale on the Pixel 3a and a hefty $200 discount on the Pixel 4. However, if you don't want to wait until next week, Amazon has you covered.

The Morning After: Google Stadia's launch game line-up gets a big boost - Engadget

Google

Hey, good morning! We kick off the week with the launch of Google's much-publicized Stadia streaming game service tomorrow, with the company fleshing out the launch line-up with an extra 10 games -- although none of them are particularly new, and none are exclusive. It's an interesting week to launch something that could be the future of gaming: This is the same week Nintendo launches the Wii, SNES and the DS. And the same week Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360, the Sega Saturn and, er, the Atari Jaguar all launch, too. Will Google's Stadia join such illustrious company?

The new list includes 'Metro Exodus,' 'NBA 2K20' and 'Football Manager 2020'.Google Stadia's launch line-up gets a 10-game boost

After announcing its cloud-streaming Stadia game service would launch with just 12 titles, Google has nearly doubled that number, a mere day ahead of launch. The service will now arrive with 10 additional games, bringing the total to 22. That'll include Football Manager 2020 and NBA 2K2020, giving Stadia a couple of the sports titles it was completely lacking before. In comparison, Microsoft is launching its xCloud preview with well over 50 titles.

The full, updated line-up is right here.

But is it an actual Mustang?
Ford's Mustang Mach-E straddles the world of EVs, SUVs and muscle cars

Ford's new electric vehicle is the Mustang Mach-E -- but it's not entirely a Mustang. It's more like a crossover with hints of Mustang design. Ford seems to have a version of the Mach-E for every type of driver. It'll be available in five trim models starting at $43,895 and will roll into showrooms in late 2020. The First Edition (270-mile range at $59,900), Premium (300 miles at $50,600) and GT (235 miles at $60,500) showing up on the road first. The California Route (300 miles at $52,400) and Select (230 miles at $43,895) will both land in early 2021.

Ford famously announced it would stop selling cars in the United States -- except for the Mustang, which continues to be a hit for the automaker. The result is Ford's first big EV -- an SUV with a Mustang badge. Read on for Roberto Baldwin's report.

This may be more about winning tariff exemptions than anything else.
President Trump will visit Apple's Mac Pro factory on November 20th

The White House has confirmed that President Trump will visit Apple's Mac Pro factory in Austin, Texas, on November 20th, backing up rumors of an impending tour. It's not clear if Tim Cook or other Apple executives will be present, but it wouldn't be surprising given the optics. Apple wants to be seen as having the Trump administration's support, while Trump wants to be seen supporting American jobs.

For Apple, though, there's an extra level of urgency. The next big round of US tariffs on China is poised to take effect on December 15th, and it could easily raise the cost of selling phones, laptops, monitors and other mainstays of Apple's product lineup.

It's trying to reduce dissent by silencing communication.
Iran shuts down nearly all internet access in response to fuel protests

The Iranian government has shut down nearly all internet access in the country amid mounting protests that began over a 50-percent hike in fuel prices and now encompass wider dissent. There are pockets of access that have let people show what's happening on the ground, but they're rare. Phone calls abroad still work, but those are also closely monitored. The government hasn't formally acknowledged the internet shutdown.

But wait, there's more...

Google teases Black Friday deals: $200 off Pixel 4, $100 off Pixel 3a, up to $648 off Pixel Slate bundle - Android Police

With Black Friday less than two weeks away, retailers have already started discounting some items and teasing their full-blown deal extravaganza. Google is joining them today with its own early look: The entire Google Store front page has been themed with black and a list of upcoming sales is displayed below it.

Among the headliners is the $200 off Pixel 4 units, which pushes the price of the regular Pixel 4 64GB down to $599, while the higher-end 4 XL 128GB goes down from $999 to $799. It's an excellent discount, but one that's sure to leave a bitter-sweet taste in the mouth of any early adopter who got the phone for full price when it launched. Other excellent deals include $100 off the Pixel 3a and 3a XL, up to $648 off the Pixel Slate and select accessories (this isn't clear yet, but I think it'll be a discount plus the keyboard and pen for free), and $20 off the new Nest Mini speaker. Again, the latter is a blow to early adopters.

Here is the list of deals on the US Google Store:

It's not clear when most deals will be available, but we know the Pixel 4 and Pixel Slate ones are set to start on November 24. We're also not sure if other items will be added later. You'll notice that neither the Pixelbook nor the Pixelbook Go are part of the list, nor are any Chromecasts or accessories, though Google usually offers discounts on them.

If you live outside the US, make sure to check your local Google Store for the local details. I looked at the French and UK stores and found they didn't offer any decent Pixel 4 discounts, so I'd temper my expectations.

Logitech’s Adaptive Gaming Kit is a cheaper way in to accessible gaming - The Verge

Logitech’s new Adaptive Gaming Kit is a collection of 12 buttons and triggers designed to work with Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller to make gaming more accessible to people with disabilities. The buttons plug into the Adaptive Controller’s 3.5mm jacks, the triggers plug in via USB, and all of them can then be mapped to different controller functions to play Xbox or PC games.

Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller has supported third-party inputs like these since launch, but Logitech’s bundle is a far more affordable way to get yourself kitted out with a wide range of accessories. Previously, individual buttons could cost almost $50 each when bought directly from Microsoft. Logitech’s kit, meanwhile, includes three small buttons, three large buttons, four light touch buttons, and two variable trigger controls, all for $99.

Along with the buttons and triggers, the kit also includes two game mats (one rigid, and one foldable), which you can use to arrange the buttons in a layout that works for you using the included velcro ties. There are also stickers so you can label each accessory with the controller button it’s mapped to.

The Adaptive Gaming Kit was developed in partnership with a number of accessibility groups including The AbleGamers Charity, the Abilities Research Center at Mount Sinai, and SpecialEffect.

Logitech is selling the kit as a bundle for $99.99 and unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any way to buy these buttons and triggers separately. You’ll also need Microsoft’s $99.99 Xbox Adaptive Controller to plug them into. The total is a lot higher than the $59.99 you’ll typically spend on an Xbox controller, but it’s still great to see accessible gaming being backed by such major manufacturers.
